Case Conferencing

Developing a collaborative relationship with all parties including the injured workers nominated treating doctor, an integral component of IHS‘ proactive rehabilitation strategy.

IHS believes the best relationships are developed through open communication and development of a strong rapport through face to face meetings. As part of our proactive rehabilitation philosophy we like to meet all doctor’s we are working with face to face at the earliest possible point in an injured workers rehabilitation phase (usually within the first week of referral) through a medical case conference. The conference brings together key stakeholders including the injured worker, treating doctor, employer and rehabilitation provider to set mutually agreed, measurable goals. It also helps to ensure roles and responsibilities, of all parties, are understood.

Treating doctor conferences are an effective tool in:

  • Achieving medical certificate upgrades
  • Challenging unhelpful beliefs about function and/or work capacity
  • Ensuring goal agreement is reached with key parties
  • Promoting a “best case scenario” approach to problem solving and functional restoration.
