Initial Assessment

An IHS Initial Assessment is completed within three days of referral (wherever practicable) and involves meeting with the injured worker to establish rapport and engage the worker early into their return to work program.

During this meeting, our consultants conduct an in-depth interview with the worker to obtain information relating to the injury in addition to communicating with nominated treating doctor, treating health professionals and the employer.

During this assessment, our consultants are able to comprehensively to gather sufficient information relating to the severity of the injury and injured worker’s limitations due to the injury, timeframes for a successful return to work on suitable duties and pre injury duties, barriers that are likely to impact the return to work as well as strategies to be implemented to overcome these stated barriers to enable a successful return to work program to be implemented.
